Thanks to a generous donation from the John Lewis Partnership, Young Barnet Foundation were delighted to offer our members the opportunity to apply for a Micro Grant of up to £250 for those members wishing to undertake pilot workshops in partnership with local schools, with the aim of strengthening relationships between Schools and VCFSE organisations in the Borough.


The round did not have an independent funding panel. The grants officer reviewed applications on a periodic basis to ensure minimum requirements are met before getting awards signed off by a trustee.  

Awards:

Bread n Butter CIC - £250

Funding to deliver a 1 hour ‘Period Perfect: Nutrition for your teen years’ workshop and a 1 hour cooking class to girls at a Barnet secondary school.

 

Angie's Keep Calm and Sing group - £250

Funding to deliver a Black History Month themed wellbeing workshop including singing, poetry, breath work and outdoor nature workshop.

 

Papatango Theatre Company - £250

Funding to deliver a “GoWrite” workshop to assist vulnerable young people to write scripts for plays with a view to these being performed by actors in inspirational showcases, as well as demystifying arts careers. Working in partnership with the Pavilion PRU.

 

Our Home Our Planet C.I.C. - £250

The Finchley Pollinator Project will come to a primary school in Finchley at pick up time, with all the materials needed to plant pollinator friendly bulbs in a pot, including soil, pots, bulbs, as well as wildflower seeds to plant at the top. Our educational specialist will also be there with insect models and games to teach children facts about pollination and pollinators. We will aim to help 30 families make their own pot to take home.


Bulldogs Basketball CIC - £250
Funding to deliver one hour Basketball sessions at four schools in Barnet.

Diwis Creations CIC - £250

A mental wellness creative T-shirt workshop.
30 pupils will be designing T-shirts with different words of affirmation about being more than enough. Inadequate feelings borne out of low self esteem have impacted their mental health greatly according to recent data which call for concern, but engaging in creative crafts activities based on past projects have shown great differences in their lives.

 

Ebatt Projects - £250

​Intensive table tennis coaching sessions to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). With the goal of using table tennis as a tool to regulate behaviour, improve mental health, and develop social skills in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Working in partnership with the Pavilion PRU. 

 

Our Kids First - £250

To pilot a 90-minute inset day training (including course materials) to help staff support children experiencing family breakdown.
