2020 CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN In partnership with Linkey

WOW!  The 2020 Christmas Toy Campaign has passed all expectations getting a wrapped gift to nearly 2,200 disadvantaged children and young people across Barnet.

Make a financial donation and Young Barnet Foundation will purchase gifts at wholesale prices. Donations will now be used to make more activity packs in the new year.

Thanks to the extreme generosity of residents and businesses across Barnet we are thrilled to be able to announce that in total 1,885 wrapped gifts and 292 activity packs were distributed via 31 Barnet based organisations.

There are so many people that need to be thanked, starting with all residents who kindly donated gifts or money to allow us to purchase gifts and the 46 amazing wrappers who donated 186 hours wrapping gifts.

"Thank you so much for these wonderful gifts. Christmas is such a tough time of year for the bereaved families we support but these presents have put a big smile on children's faces. We can't thank you enough." Rob McCluskey, Family Programmes Manager

Thanks have to also go to Linkey for running the Amazon list and publicising the campaign, to all the other organsiations and residents who shared the campaign across social media, including Vicky Pattison and Rachel Riley.   To Christchurch Primary School in Hampstead for 180 shoeboxes full of gifts, to Hasbro for 250 donated gifts, to Rodgers Removals and all the other kind people who donated boxes so we could pack them the gifts for transport.  To Morrisons Colindale who after last Christmas donated wrapping paper meaning we didn't have to purchase any,  to the incredible In Kind Direct who continue to work with big name suppliers so charities like ours can get great quality products at a fraction of the retail price.  Thank you Barnet Council for the Community Hub and Foodbank space at the Old East Barnet Library which gave us the space to coordinate the campaign.

It is the intention to continue the annual campaign in 2021 for the forth time.  Rather than using Amazon we would love to use a local toy shop or supplier for gift, both to support local business and to be eco-conscious.  If you are or know of anyone who might want to work with us next year please do get in contact.

"I'm really excited by this gift, it's such a lovely surprise. I like making jewellery and wearing headbands so now I can make lots! Thank you."

We were overwhelmed by the response to our Secret Santa Toy Drive in 2018, helping children to have the opportunity to open a present at Christmas. Partnering with local accountants Kajaine,  605 gifts with a retail value of over £12,900 have been donated to disadvantaged children and young people in the borough.

Barnet FC First Team were also been on hand to help, with their supporters donating presents at one of the matches pre christmas.

All these wonderful presents were distributed via Young Barnet Foundation members who support our most vulnerable Children & Young People across the Borough, including:

  • Love Burnt Oak / The Real Junk Food Project

  • Zone 7 Youth Club Organisation

  • Colindale Community Trust, Youth Club

  • Hope North London

  • Barnet Community Projects, Lunch Club

  • Children in Care in Barnet

  • Resources for Autism, Youth Club
