Young Barnet Foundation’s Christmas Gift appeal has launched and is ready to receive gifts! LIVE LOCAL AND GIVE LOCAL

ABOUT THE 2023 CHRISTMAS GIFT CAMPAIGN

Now in its sixth year, Young Barnet Foundation is once again asking local Barnet residents, business and community organisations, to help provide presents for local children and young people who may not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas.

Since it launched in 2018, Young Barnet Foundation’s Christmas Gift appeal has wrapped a staggering 9,500 gifts, that have been distributed to disadvantaged children and young people living in Barnet via local charities, social enterprises, community and faith groups.

Many of these organisations are already stretched. YBF offers vital support thanks to a centralised Christmas Campaign in which we aim to distribute over 2500 gifts to the children & young people they help. This comes at a time when families are facing unprecedented financial stresses due to the cost-of-living crisis that is already compounding widespread poverty within the borough.

We need your help to make this happen again this year!

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

There are five easy ways that individuals, schools, community groups and businesses can all get involved:

1. DONATE GIFTS

Drop off new, unwrapped toys to our offices located at Old East Barnet Library, 85 Brookhill Road, East Barnet, EN4 8SG

The suggested value for gifts is between £10 - £15. Please note that we are unable to accept any donations of food or clothing.

Can’t drop off? To arrange a collection please contact jessicah@youngbarnetfoundation.org.uk

Need inspiration? Check out our AMAZON WISHLIST for some ideas and suggestions.

2. VOLUNTEER

Our volunteer sessions for November and December are now full! Thank you for all your support 🌟

3. MAKE A FINANCIAL DONATION

Young Barnet Foundation will use any money contributed to bulk buy presents at a discounted rate, ensuring more gifts can be distributed and making your money go further. This option also enables us to provide specific, age-appropriate gifts for the children and young people that we support through the campaign.

4. SUPPORT THE BIG GIVE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE

Between 28th November - 5th December 2023 any donations made through our Big Give campaign page will be doubled in value, meaning double the impact!

Active on Social Media? Why not share our template posts? By doing so you will play a key role during this critical 7 day period. Download our supporters pack below to access our free resources.

5. SPREAD THE WORD

Tell your friends and family and share our campaign on social media!

Repost/share/retweet our posts on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

ARE YOU A YBF MEMBER OR PARTNER?

You can now request gifts via our online form.

This form is for organisations and partners who work directly with the borough’s most disadvantaged children and young people to request gifts for their beneficiaries whose circumstances mean they may otherwise go without/receive very few presents at this special time of year.

***Please note all presents are distributed via Young Barnet Foundation members to their beneficiaries and we are unable to facilitate requests from individuals. A list of all of our members can be found here***

THE 2022 CHRISTMAS GIFT CAMPAIGN HAS NOW FINISHED

Thanks to the extreme generosity of residents, schools, businesses and organisations across Barnet we are thrilled to be able to announce that in total 2,568 wrapped gifts and over 50 activity packs were distributed via 31 Barnet based organisations.

There are so many people that need to be thanked, starting with all residents who kindly donated gifts or money to allow us to purchase gifts and the 60 amazing wrappers who donated over 124 hours wrapping gifts.

To Henrietta Barnett School in Hampstead,  East Barnet School – Christian Revivial Church and Christ Church Primary School for shoeboxes, to King Alfred School, Keren's Nursery Hampstead Garden Suburb, St Andrew’s Apostle School, Totteridge Academy and Richardson Healthcare who organised toy drives as part of the campaign.

Thanks to Co-op Friern Barnet for their support and donations, and again to all the residents that dropped off gifts or purchased from our Amazon wishlist.

To Morrisons Colindale whose previously donated wrapping paper meant we didn't have to purchase any, to the incredible In Kind Direct who continue to work with big name suppliers so charities like ours can get great quality products at a fraction of the retail price.

"The campaign enabled us to provide gifts to a large group of young people, many who come from low income families and often do not receive much at Christmas. It really added a layer of excitement to our celebrations, and the gifts themselves will have a practical benefit on the children, either bringing family together to play with Lego, or with a really helpful flask/ water bottle. Thanks! ." Talia Kensit, Youth Realities
