Young People's Foundations

Developed in response to the ongoing challenges facing the Children and Young People’s sector, Young People’s Foundations (YPFs) bring together the public, private and voluntary sectors to effect positive change for young people.

Based in their local communities, each YPF’s services are led by their members and based on the needs and assets of their area. Together we share a common goal – to help create and champion a more impactful, co-ordinated and sustainable sector to ensure all young people have access to quality support and opportunities.

The YPFs are supported by the YPF Trust, which advocated for, supports, develops and promotes the network of Young People's Foundation coordinating the work of individual foundations nationally.   We are proud to be a member of the YPF Trust and follow their principles.

As a YBF Trust Member we agree to uphold the following principles;

INCLUSIVITY: Membership will be open to any group working with children and young people, with no limit on numbers. An equal voice will be given to all organisations, no matter their size

DIVERSITY: Membership is reflective of the demographic served by the YPF and proactive in ensuring that there is support for marginalised groups (including race, LGBT, those with disabilities and gender)

COLLABORATION: Collaboration will be fostered between members. The YPFs will work to fundraise, coordinate and network to benefit their whole membership. They will not compete against their members or deliver services which could be delivered by members

CROSS-SECTOR: YPFs will bring the voluntary, public and private sectors together to address the needs of children and young people

GRASSROOTS: YPFs will work for, and with local organisations, recognising the value that small, locally focused organisations contribute to local solutions

LONG-TERM: YPFs are designed to be sustainable and long term in nature; there for local children and young people
