Space2Grow #32 – Autumn 2023 Training and Development Micro Fund
Thanks to a generous donation of £3,000 from All Aboard Charity Shops, Young Barnet Foundation are able to offer an additional Micro Grant for Training & Development in 2023.

As part of Young Barnet Foundation’s core mission to support and build capacity within the Children and Young Peoples Voluntary Sector within the London Borough of Barnet, Space2Grow#32 – Micro Round is aimed at helping those Young Barnet Foundation members who are members as of Monday 25th September 2023 to deliver Training & Development to their staff and / or trustees. Organisations must have a turnover of £250,000 or less in the most recent financial year.
The maximum grant size is £250 and this should be used to pay towards the delivery of Training or Development opportunities via an appropriate provider of such training. The proposed training should contribute to the organisations core Charitable objectives, and demonstrate the ability to either support existing provision or build the capacity of the organisation. This can include Continuing Professional Development to enable staff to maintain existing accreditations or qualifications.

The round did not have an independent funding panel. The grants officer reviewed applications on a periodic basis to ensure minimum requirements are met before getting awards signed off by a trustee.

4) Complete training / course.

Awards
A total of 13 Grants, totalling £2,983 were awarded. The remaining £17 will be rolled into the funding for next years Micro Grant. See below for details of which organisations were awarded grants, and what the funding was for:​
Give.Help Share. - £210
Funding to provide Safeguarding and Nutrition training to five members of staff.
Action Youth Boxing Intervention (AYBI) - £180
Funding to provide Safeguarding and England Boxing Level 1 Coaching Qualifications to 1 member of staff.
Wild About Our Woods - £250
Funding to enable one member of staff to undertake a Certificate in Therapeutic Skills course to enhance their skills when working in a Forest School setting.
9th Muswell Hill Scout Group - £216
Funding to enable one volunteer to undertake a an ICT Level 3 Outdoor First Aid Course to enable children and young people to be engaged in adventurous activities such as climbing, hill walking and paddle sports in remote locations.
8th Hendon Scouts - £130
The Funding will be used to allow one of our team leaders to attend an "Archery GB" course to instruct and run taster archery sessions for our members and youth members using our facilities.
Phoenix Canoe Club - £250
The funding will subsidise a face-to-face Safeguarding Course for our staff and trustees. We haven't run one in a few years due to Covid and we find this style of presentation more useful than an online version.
New Barnet Community Association - £250
Funding to enable two members of staff to update paediatric first aid certificates.
Mother to Mother - £250
Funding to deliver Mental Health training to team of specialist Family Liaison volunteers to enable them to support families and children during times of crisis.
Our Kids First - £247
Funding to enable one staff member to attend the following training;

Bread n Butter - £250
Funding to enable three staff members to attend first aid training.
Express Tuition - £250
Contributory funding towards training 11 new staff and volunteers in Safeguarding training.
Exposure Organisation Ltd. - £250
Funding to enable 3 staff members to be trained in WordPress content management, enabling staff to make updates and adjustments without the need for coding expertise.
Canons CC - £250
Funding for volunteers in the following training:

ECB Core Club Coach
This training will enable the cricket club to deliver training to up to 18 more children, as they expand the age group squads to under 13’s in Summer 2024 and under 15’s in autumn 2024.
