Don’t miss these FREE training opportunities that are being delivered during June and July 2021

 

If you’re planning on delivering HAF funded activities over the summer then we urge you to book on to these courses, but this training is open to ALL members.


FREE Mental Health First Aid Training

Book by Sunday 13th June

16 places available – first come first served

This training is being delivered by external provider Mental Health First Aid England and there’s some pre-course prep involved
 

Youth MHFA Champions (1-day) FREE to YBF members

This course is ideal for those who want to get a better understanding about Youth Mental Health needs. 1 day course delivered over 2 mornings - 29th & 30th June, 9:30am - 12:00pm


Training will offer:

  • An understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people

  • Ability to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support

  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness

  • Skills to support positive wellbeing

Please note: There is some self-led learning to do before the session 1 of the course (approximately 1 and a half hours) and before the second session (approximately 1 hour and 20 mins)

Youth MHFA First Aiders (2-day) FREE to YBF members

This course is ideal for those with more of a hands-on role working with young people. 2 day course delivered over 4 mornings - 30th June, 1st, 7th, 8th July, 9:30am - 12:00pm


Training will offer:

  • An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing

  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues 

  • Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening 

  • Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate

  • Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive

  • Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing
