What is this fund for?

Deliver of face to face activities or services in August 2020: we are looking for applications to support the children and young people of Barnet who will have been affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.  We are looking for exciting, interesting and caring projects that will get our young people to address their physical and mental well being.    Projects don't need to be radical, they just need to deliver.

Is it safe to resume contact with young people?

We are following the guidance.  Please see the blue box below on the latest guidance. This, along with Risk Assessment support and other information can be found on our Coronavirus Member Support Page

We want to offer virtual/online support?

There is other funding available.   Due to the limited funds we have available we will only be funding face-to-face activities and services.   Other funding including; Barnet Community Response Fund, London Community Fund Wave 3, John Lyon's Charity Summer Holiday Activity Fund that you can apply for.    Check out the members support page for more information.

What if we are applying for other funding?

We are working with other funders.   Young Barnet Foundation are a London Funders members, and by applying you understand that Young Barnet Foundation may share knowledge of the application and some details with John Lyon's Charity,  who are offering the School Holiday Activity Fund, with the aim of supporting the application process, to reduce double funding and to aid the aim of funding being awarded to as many projects in LB of Barnet during this upcoming summer holiday period.

What about funding for my organisation or projects moving forward?

More Space2Grow rounds are coming.  This fund is specifically for August projects, we have other funding launching soon looking at longer term capacity issues.

What if there is another Lockdown during August?

We will work with those granted funding.   This fund has been developed to get the boroughs young people out and about in safe environments, we hope there will be no further lock down but we will work with any organisation granted funding should they not be able to then deliver their project due to this.   We are committed to being flexible.

I've read the guidance below but I have a query, who do I contact?

Contact us by email.   Send your queries to and one of the team will get back to you.   Our Fundraising and Partnerships Manager Debra is available to discuss your application.

Protective measures for holiday or after-school clubs and other out-of-school settings for children during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

Providers of out-of-school and holiday activities operate from a range of premises including schools and other regulated educational institutions, by arrangement with the proprietors of those institutions, and other community premises such as village halls, by arrangement with the owners or managers of those premises.

The Department for Education wants to ensure, with these protective measures, that all providers are able to open in:

  • their own premises

  • education premises, such as schools or colleges (where providers would be using them outside of school hours, or when closed over school holiday periods)

  • community-facing premises including village halls, community centres and places of worship
